As a group we then discussed safeguarding in our communities what it is , how do we recognise risk,what and how we can help remove the risks .
Steve Lynn gave an overview on the Prevent agenda ( relating to safeguarding ) and examples as community members what to look out for and how to report your concerns .For further info on Prevent please use the Humberside police link
Sgt Jo Clark our NHW liaison officer then updated members on the current policing activities and provided updated contact details for our local officers after recent changes . Jo also appealed for crime information or suspicious activity to be reported to help officers combat crime and disorder . Jo reminded us all that email can be used via the HP website as an alternative to 101 but not in the case of an emergency .
Jo was also asked to look into a 999 issue that was raised . If you are in any doubt what is an emergency then don’t hesitate to use 999 its better to be safe than sorry you wont get into trouble .
Under “Parish notes” members were invited to receive free training via the CPG collaborative to become a cancer champion . The short training programme raises awareness and the importance of early detection to provide information to family,friends and social groups .

Please take part in the environmental NELC survey attached in recent posts and have your say on proposed waste disposal and other issues such as fly tipping in NEL .
Next week is national NHW week and to celebrate this our NHW network has joined forces with North Lincs,Hull city and the East Riding under a new Humber Watch Group . Steve Lynn has been given the role of the chair in its first year . The working group has a nominated community member from each area ( Glyn Atkinson for NEL ) and will act as the regional representative for the Humberside area . This will enable us to bid for funding to support projects that supplement the Humberside PCC police and Crime Plan 2017-21. firstname.lastname@example.org
