A few parish notes from the December NHW coordinators meeting held at the West Marsh Community centre on Thursday 6th December 2018.
We opened and welcomed Ch. Supt Darren Downs (Humberside police) who gave an overview of policing across the region with a specific focus on working with NHW locally.
A really positive question and answer session then took place in terms of expectations from both the policing and community perspectives.
Several issues were raised by members with communication after a crime or suspicious incident being reported identified as a reoccurring problem.
Ch Supt Downs acknowledged the concerns and invited members to forward these on to him personally for further enquiries to be made. Darren.Downs@humberside.pnn.police.uk
Close liaison with local policing teams was also identified amongst members which was encouraging and pleasing to hear.
Following this session an input on behalf of Victim Support was given by Sally and Jenny outlining the service and its benefits to not only victims of crime but also those more vulnerable in our communities. Contact details firstname.lastname@example.org or 07770607303.
An introduction to a new and exciting community reliance training programme C.E.R.T was given and further details can be found on a separate post.
Before closing the meeting Mr Glyn Atkinson was formally appointed as the new NHW lead for North East Lincolnshire and the areas Humber Watch representative as from the 2nd January 2019.
This appointment has resulted from the current lead Steve Lynn moving from Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire (Vanel) to take up employment with NELC.
Steve thanked members present for their support over the last two years and now extends the thanks to those coordinators unable to attend.
Glyn can be contacted via Vanel on 01472 231123 or via email at email@example.com,uk
Finally, on behalf of all involved with NHW a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
