Meeting summary 14th March 2017

Hello

Thank you to all who were able to attend last week’s meeting coordinators meeting;  the first to be held at the Cromwell Road fire station.

After introductions,  NELC’s Mr Ian Boyd gave a great presentation regarding financial exploitation by FRAUD .  This included information relating to “scams ” via  mail / telephone and emails . Rogue traders were also covered and recent examples in Scartho were discussed .

Ian asked that we all be alert and if any concerns are raised please contact him at NELC Trading standards department or complete the online form at www.nelincs.gov.uk  (of course if it’s happening there and then please ring the police first)

Steve Lynn confirmed that the NEL neighbourhood watch area have joined up with the other Humberside local authorities to form a Humber Watch association working with Humberside police .

The purpose of this new group is to apply for funding and assets on behalf of all NHW schemes to run projects making communities safer .

Finally Sergeant Jo Clark from Humberside police gave members an update on local policing and her new role as the NHW lead in NEL, as she is taking over from Neil Hutchins who has moved over to Scunthorpe on promotion .

The next proposed meeting will be on Tuesday 13th June;  again at the fire station with a 7pm start.  An agenda  with further details will follow closer to the date .

Finally, Josh Short leaves us for pastures new at the end of the week . He has played a key role in the development of our website www.vanel.org.uk/nelwatch  and supported me in all matters relating to NHW in our area over the last year.

I trust you all join me in wishing him well for the future .

Steve Lynn
