Hello
The first of our 2018 meetings took place yesterday ( Thursday) at the Cromwell Rd Fire Station , Grimsby .Representatives from all areas of NEL were in attendance along with Sgt Darryl Caroline from Humberside police.
The meeting was opened and members were invited to discuss community concerns resulting from a series of photographs depicting issues in and around our area these included fly tipping , homelessness, parking and derelict buildings .
Resulting from the discussion it was clear that these issues need to be reported to the appropriate agencies so early intervention can result this is especially true with fly-tipping which is a national problem for local authorities .
Our own Mike Parr then gave an informative input around ” cold calling “traders . One tool available to check authenticity of traders is to carry out a companies house search at www.gov.uk/get-information-about-a-company
This is available to everyone free of charge and provides basic details of the company enabling you to make a more informed choice . Please remember there are other safeguards that can be taken before engaging at the doorstep .
Humberside police are due to launch the community alert system very soon and you can register at Mycommunityalert.co.uk to receive the information type you select . This service will available to all the general public so please encourage registration with your neighbours .
Members were given the assurance that any personal data held relating to NHW is compliant to the new GDPR process ( was data protection ) and that confirmation of continued membership will be undertaken annually to remain compliant .
Sgt Caroline updated members regards his teams work in our communities and invited questions afterwards .
Planning is currently underway for a Humber wide NHW conference to be held in Hessle in early June and this meeting will incorporate our local meeting that was due to be held around that time .
Further details will be announced as soon as possible and the invitation will be extended to all groups in NEL .
This will be the first conference of its kind and its hoped as many of our local groups will be able to attend .
Please keep checking the website for regular updates and key information .
Regards
Steve
