Helping Young People To Lead Their Communities

Ignite is about encouraging young people to lead their own community projects. The Ignite programme is funded by the National Lottery’s Big Lottery Fund and it aims to motivate young people between the ages of 16 to 30 to put into action through volunteering a community focused project in which they have a personal interest. The Youth Leadership Mentors from Ignite then support the project leaders to bring their ideas to life. These projects also help to integrate young people into their communities with other generations.

Ignite sees this as a way for young people to develop their own leadership skills. They can then hopefully carry on working within their communities when their time has finished with the Youth Leadership Mentors whilst also giving them real, valuable work experience and a chance to build relationships and contacts.
