Holiday refunds – take care if re-booking for next year.

CHOICES IF YOUR HOLIDAY IS CANCELLED BY THE TRAVEL FIRM.

Have you had your spring or early summer holiday cancelled by the travel company recently?

Travel agent / On-line booking? – combination of both?

How did you pay? – deposit only, full amount, cheque, bank transfer, credit card?

Do you know your full consumer rights for getting monies paid out back to you?

Did you book in a manner that allows you any form of refund – is the holiday ABTA protected?

What choices were you given by calling the travel company, or if they called you to confirm a cancellation?

Full refunds?

Delayed until later this year?

Same time next year?

Do you know your legal rights?

Have I confused you?

If you are now totally puzzled by these questions, then you need to take advice that is ABTA backed, or look at the Martin Lewis website under the section on holidays.

I have no expert advice to hand, but be careful that you are not charged, or agree to pay extra, for a booking carried forward into next year, which could be on a different tariff to the one you booked for this holiday.

Travel agents have been advised to deter you from asking directly for any full refund, as it will strip their own bank balances moving forward.

Remember, if you are not sure, don’t be drawn in by the first offer, that is only there to keep your money.

It is NOT any form of hard scam, just them protecting assets in hard times.

BE SAVVY AND STAY SAFE !
