We are heading towards National Neighbourhood Week – 7th to 13th June.
Restrictions could well mean that any street celebrations planned will be curtailed, or lessened locally, however, we still have plans locally through the new website to try to celebrate work done in the borough by NHW members.
Below is the national “Our Watch” report, but our local request first is to ask you for your good news stories for the newly developed website.
What has gone well in organising vulnerable residents to be protected in your areas?
Have any individuals, both adults and children, gone “beyond the bar”, and selflessly assisted others ?
Have you gained any new active members in your groups from people realising the value of the NHW membership during a crisis situation?
Did you have any novel ways of providing assistance to neighbours?
Please, share your good experiences with us, so that we can put them onto the website for others to see and appreciate.
In he same vein, we would like to know if anything has severely hindered your group being able to assist your local community members?
This could be used as futureproofing of safety systems that may be required in any later unsafe crisis situation.
We thank you for any, or both, types of information.
Karl, our IT guru, is taking a well deserved week break from work on the website, so this is a good opportunity to stack up some mails with good news items to greet him on his return !
Please forward any items to karl@vanel.org.uk

Dear supporters
The Neighbourhood Watch June ‘Our News’ enewsletter is out! With the lockdown remaining fully in place in Wales and measures in England altering, Neighbourhood Watch groups continue to support individuals and their communities to adapt, stay safe and manage the situation. We have been collecting stories of all the amazing work going on, several of which are in this newsletter. “The range of support offered is fantastic and a real testament to how Neighbourhood Watch groups all across England and Wales have stood up to support others and their communities”. We are fast approaching the annual Neighbourhood Watch Week, 7th – 13th June, and there is lots of information in this newsletter on how to get involved and get active in celebrating your neighbours. If you have plans to get involved, let us know by emailing enquiries@ourwatch.org.uk so we can support you. This year we have slightly separate messages for our English and Welsh supporters in line with the Government’s guidance. Both versions can be accessed on our website here. Happy reading and thank you for your continued support. Follow us.. |
