Hopefully you’re enjoying this summer weather now. A reminder to be more vigilant if you’ve got your windows and doors open to keep cool. Don’t provide opportunities for ‘visitors’. And don’t forget the previous weekly editions of this news summary are online.
Community Safety related
Have you heard of Fearless? It’s the Youth focused part of Crimestoppers and allows young people to report crime anonymously without fear of repercussions. Intro on Humberside Police site here and the Fearless site is here: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/fearless. If you connect to young people it’s important to let them know about this.
Police related Updates
Some recent articles from your Humberside Police newsroom (you’ll get these directly if you’re signed up to MyCommunityAlert):
Proving that the CCTV systems can have results: “Two sentenced for crimes thanks to Council CCTV and Humberside Police”
Go “Out and about with Cleethorpes Cops” this summer.
Shoplifting remains a constant problem everywhere, but these articles demonstrate that sometimes people get caught!
“Do you know who’s policing your street?”. Article explaining about the Neighbourhood Policing Teams.
In North East Lincolnshire there are two teams:
Cleethorpes (from Hamilton Street Police Station) covers the seven wards of Croft Baker, East Marsh, Haverstoe, Heneage, Humberston and New Waltham and Sidney Sussex.
Grimsby (from Cromwell Road Police Station) covers the Town Centre, industrial areas of Pyewipe and Alexandra Dock and the area also includes the housing areas of West Marsh, Wybers Wood, Willows, Yarborough, Nunsthorpe and Grange.
You can find lots of details about your local Neighbourhood Team either on the Humberside Police site here or via Police.UK online here.
It’s not for everyone, but maybe you think you could make a difference in your community by volunteering for the Police? Now’s your chance as applications are open. Lots and lots of information you need here.
Neighbourhood Watch
The August edition of the national Neighbourhood Watch newsletter from Ourwatch is out.
The National Neighbourhood Watch Conference organised by OurWatch will be on Wed 24th September this year. In previous years this has been held in Manchester or London and involves a lot of effort for NW Coordinators to attend. Few from Humberside ever attend. This year the conference will BE ONLINE (from 10am-2pm). More details available in due course. This is a great opportunity for our local coordinators who have never attended before to listen to useful talks and get involved in the discussions. Links, registration info etc will be shared here soon but put 24th Sept in your diary.
For those who cannot join online either, VANEL is planning to host a group session at our office at 82 Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes on the day so we can all join via zoom together. More details soon but if you are interested in the conference please let me know so I can keep you informed and make some arrangements.
Something to share?
If you have comments, feedback or content that you think should be included, please let me know.
