Welcome to our latest Weeknotes. A roundup of community safety news from the past few weeks. And remember that previous weekly editions of this news summary are online.
Community Safety related
This week and next are a lot of fun for the community with Halloween and Fireworks, but it’s also an important time to stay safe. Humberside Fire and Rescue Service have been sharing tips on staying safe over Halloween and around 5th November. They’ve even published a list of upcoming firework displays across the region. And remember about Fire Health and Safety Visits for anyone you think might need one.
Probably also a good time to remind everyone about the Firework Safety Code and keeping safe with fireworks.
VANEL used funding from Sidney Sussex and South Ward Councillors to print lots of “No Trick of Treat” posters recently and have been distributing these to older people in the community who might not be as enthusiastic as others to have Trick or Treat visits over Halloween. The posters are prepared by the Police each year and VANEL and Ward Councillors supported this initiative with the printing costs this year.
Cleethorpes and Immingham Schools to be made safer with introduction of new CCTV cameras
VANEL recently supplied 40 personal alarms to the Community Shop in Nunsthorpe to hand to their customers and clients to help them feel safer. The alarms had been funded by the South Ward Councillors and all quickly were distributed to local residents to provide some peace of mind.
Working with the Policing team in East Marsh, VANEL have also provided a handful of video doorbells to victims of crime. The equipment was funded by the East Marsh Ward Councillors. VANEL continues to distribute small items of household and personal safety equipment to residents in certain areas of North East Lincolnshire depending on our funding. VANEL are grateful to the funders of these initiatives and to partners helping to reach our more vulnerable residents.
