One of our NHW Co-ordinators has been in touch telling me about the latest B.T. scam contact phone calls – the seriousness of this is that someone with high technical knowledge has deliberately cut through telephone cables in the supply box going to the Co-ordinators phone line.
The 2 numbers used to actually make phone contact are as follows – 0019799078038 and 01944 461815.
If you are called from either number, please be very careful, if you either reply, or see the number displayed.
Have you joined the telephone preference service for blocking unwanted landline calls?
Are you ex-directory on that landline?
Sadly, this will not differentiate from foreign calls or some mobile numbers.
Mobile phones can be protected by subscribing to some form of true caller application, which gathers such rogue numbers, and will show up on displays when others have registered them on line as rogue or scam numbers.
In this day and age of scams, please do not just trust callers as being genuine from call 1 – try to tell elderly or vulnerable people that not all callers are honest.
