In conjunction with the Department for Transport (DfT), the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) has been provided funding to offer key road users the possibility of a free-of-charge plug and play dashcam over the coming months.
The allocation of these dashcams requires an application process to ensure we focus only on high intensity road users driving on the most dangerous roads in our policing area, and those road users crossing over our boundaries into Lincolnshire and other parts of Yorkshire. The applicants must be willing to download dashcam footage on a regular basis where they identify inappropriate driving behaviours by other road users. They must also be willing to be part of any evaluation by the DfT.
Operation Snap is not asking you to go out and detect offences for us, but Humberside Police will investigate any you find. Operation Snap has one desired outcome – Making our Roads Safer.
The application window opens on Monday 20 May 2024 and will close on Friday 14 June 2024, although this could be earlier if demand exceeds expectations. Please feel free to share this application form with other road users if you feel they would be willing to participate in this project.
If your application is successful, we will pass on your details (as below) to the chosen dashcam provider so they can contact you to arrange delivery. We will share your details with Nextbase or Road Angel.
If your application is successful, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) will process your details for the purposes of contacting you and updating you on this project (see our Privacy Notice (https://www.humberside-pcc.gov.uk/Privacy-Notice.aspx) for further details of how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your personal information).
Please note that unfortunately due to the volume of applications received, it is not possible to notify unsuccessful applicants.
