The alert:

Impersonation Fraud

We have been informed by Humberside Police that fraudsters are impersonating Police officers which involves meeting in person (purporting to be officers) and telephone calls.  The fraudsters have targeted vulnerable victims and asked them to withdraw cash or Euros from Supermarkets.

Message from Humberside Police:

The Police or Bank will never send someone to your House to collect money, bank cards, jewellery or ask you to withdraw money from a Supermarket exchange, Bank or ATM.  This is a Scam

In these scenarios, the fraudster will often tell you not to speak to anyone else about the investigation and promise you will get your money back. They may ask you to lie to your bank or bypass security measures – it is essential that you never lie to your bank and contact them on a number you know to be correct.

Take your time to consider what is being asked by you and if you have any concerns always hang up, ensure the other person has cleared, or use a different phone to call 101 or 999.

If you have been a victim and lost money, call 101 and report it.
