Force control room set to enhance performance through launch of online portal

This important update from Humberside Police…

When a member of our community becomes a victim of crime, they want our call handlers to answer their call quickly and also kept up to date at each stage of the investigation.

As a part of our continued commitment to do everything we can for our communities, we’re pleased to pilot My Police Portal, an innovative and user-friendly system which allows victims to track the progress of their investigation after they have reported a crime to us through our call centre or online.

Through My Police Portal you can stay up to date on the progress of your investigation and interact with officers in charge of your case without having to call back our non-emergency number 101.

By signing up to My Police Portal you are able to securely and easily send messages directly to the officer investigating your case, whether that be to provide further information or to ask any questions you may have, it is all available at the click of a button.

Assistant Chief Officer Chris Philpott said: “We live in a fast-paced society with the majority of products and services generally available at the click of a button and it is important that we as a police force are able to adapt our channels of communication to reflect the needs of our communities.

“The commitment and victim-focussed approach our control room staff bring to work every day means any victim of crime calling us will have someone ready to answer their call who will provide them with the help they need, making our force control room one of the best in country.

“The launch of My Police Portal has been a fantastic opportunity to further transform the way we communicate with members of our community enhancing the fantastic services our control room staff are able to deliver alongside our officers and continue to improve the way we police.

“The project is still in its infancy as we look to expand upon the different types of crime residents are able to track through the portal after they initially report an incident to us however I have no doubt that it will have a huge impact.”

To be eligible to sign up to My Police Portal you will need to supply a valid mobile number and email address, be over the age of 16 and be reporting one of the below crimes:

  • Burglary
  • Criminal Damage
  • Assault
  • Blackmail
  • Harassment
  • Malicious Communications
  • Public Order
  • Robbery
  • Theft
  • Threats to Life

If you meet the criteria for an account, once you have reported a crime to us, you will receive a text message and an email with details on how to sign up.
