It’s Neighbourhood Watch Week 2025

This week (1-7th June 2025) starts off the national Month of Community with both Volunteers’ Week but also Neighbourhood Watch Week. Have a read about what’s happening. What is your community group up to?

This week is national Neighbourhood Watch Week as organised by OurWatch. This is the 40th celebratory week no less!

Keep an eye on their website for news and their Facebook page for updates. And the June Ourwatch newsletter includes more about the week too.

The Volunteer Recognition Awards have also opened this week – have a read here and you might know someone who deserves to be nominated!

What is VANEL up to this week?

VANEL leads on Neighbourhood Watch for North East Lincolnshire (all on www.nelwatch.org.uk).  We’re also part of Humber Watch which covers the whole of Humberside.

This week we’ve launched the latest edition of our “Stay Safe guide” booklets. This version covers the whole of Humberside and has been organised by Humber Watch. Funding for the print version has come from the Police and Crime Commissioner via North Lincolnshire Community Safety Partnership. Thank you to our funders.  Watch out in community venues near you in due course as we start putting the guides out for people to read.

More about the new guide and download it here.

Our new “Neighbourhood Watch Hubs” are launched too. These information points will be installed in community venues around North East Lincolnshire. The first is in East Marsh. More coming soon.

Read about our Hubs here.

We’ve got a NEW Neighbourhood Watch getting started this week in New Waltham. Details soon.

And we’re following up with a number of other residents who have expressed interest in setting up a group in their area.  Get in touch if this interests you too.

We’re doing an in-depth “stock take” (aka survey) of all our current Neighbourhood Watch groups on our database. We’re getting started this week so if you’re on our database as a group coordinator then I’ll be contacting you to ensure we know the status of your group.  Watch out for the email.

And of course we’ll be sharing useful news and information throughout the week on this website.  Please share it all with your own members and neighbours.

And that’s just the new stuff! We’re still working away on a range of neighbourhood and community safety approaches as part of our commitment to Neighbourhood Networking and Neighbourhood Watch.

Keep an eye on this website – nelwatch.org.uk – and also on our Neighbours Together forum at www.nelwatch.org.uk/neighbourstogether.

Have a great Neighbourhood Watch week.

If you’ve got any photos about anything you’ve been up to then please contact me and let me know.

Any questions, please get in touch with Karl.
