Sentences handed out for illicit tobacco

The council’s trading standards team brought forth the prosecution against two individuals.  The two were found guilty of possessing illicit tobacco with intent to sell, and were both handed suspended prison sentences.

Neil Clark, community protection manager responsible for Trading Standards at NELC said afterwards “We appeal to anyone to get in touch if you have information about any people or businesses selling counterfeit or illicit tobacco products in your community”
