Please obey the self isolation rules !!

News this morning has NEL area Covid 19 cases up to 39 confirmed.

Is this not now enough information for people to understand that self isolation does not mean several trips to the shops, allowing children off school attendance not to be roaming the streets with their mates, not having friends or neighbours in your house for a coffee, or going out to them for the same reason?

The only way, as China is slowly proving the hard way, is to remain away from others as much as humanly possible. there are so many ways within social media, phone systems etc., for families and friends to stay in touch and help each other through these unprecedented times.

Please also think of those people who live around you who were not outwardly active outside of their houses in normal times. Are they physically challenged, have long lasting illnesses, have problems with walking or shopping, or any other ailments needing medicines or the assistance of outsiders?

In the real world, they probably need more help than able bodied well people. What is stopping them getting this help? – food hoarders, selfish people who are not obeying stay at home rules, ignorant people who think –  “it won’t happen to me!”

If you are fit and able to do so, why not volunteer on an official volunteer register, and find out how you could make a difference to those less fortunate, or in temporary difficulties?

If not wanting to volunteer, heed the rules – stay home unless vital shopping or exercising, think ahead to anyone who may call to your house – parcel deliveries, dustbin or recycling collections. Use some disinfectant on a disposable cloth to wipe handles.

Open any parcel deliveries with some disposable household gloves on, and then immediately remove packaging out of reach to avoid contamination.

It is perceived that dustbin collectors can handle over 2000 bin handles during a typical shift, so think what the odds are on touching a bin handle that could have some form of contamination attached and still “living”!

SO, STAY ALERT TO DIFFERENT SITUATIONS WHERE CONTAINATION COULD OCCUR – DISINFECT THE HANDLES OF BINS OR BOXES BEFORE LEAVING THEM READY TO COLLECT !

STAY SAFE, KEEP YOUR FAMILY SAFE, KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE IF YOU ARE OUT AT WORK.

SOCIAL DISTANCE YOURSELF, IF OUT SHOPPING OR EXERCISING, A SCARF OR MASK IN USE FOR YOURSELF IS NOT A SOCIAL STIGMA, IT IS A REASONABLE PROTECTOR.

3 TO 4 WEEKS OF HOME AND WORK DISCOMFORT IF WE ALL OBEY THE RULES, AND THEN THINGS COULD CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.

Thanks for reading, let’s all be there at the end of this nightmare !
