“Stay Safe” guide to inform older people about looking after themselves over the Winter published

Winter and Christmas are going to be different this year. Coronavirus has seen to that. But at the same time, Winter is always something to prepare for – to make sure you stay safe and well over the darker, colder months. Preparing your property against burglars or preparing yourself against the growing tide of scams – especially as we all all shopping online more than ever before, are important issues.

A new guide has just been published called “Stay Safe”. It’s full of simple guidance about all these key winter issues such as Covid, scams, burglary and more. It’s aimed at older people in Cleethorpes mainly (but most of the advice is of course applicable wherever you live across North East Lincolnshire.)

The printed guide will be distributed around Cleethorpes directly to people, but the electronic version can be read immediately here. If you work with older clients in Cleethorpes please make sure they get to see a copy. If you’ve got someone aged 60+ who you think needs a printed copy, please email Karl Elliott to discuss. (karl@capacitybuildings.org.uk)

The guide has been produced by Capacity Buildings social enterprise who are based in Cleethorpes. It it is part of their Keeping Older People Safe (KOPS) initiative and was funded through a grant from the North East Lincolnshire Community Safety Partnership Crime Reduction Fund which in turn is funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside.

And feedback can be provided via Karl Elliott too, but please make sure you let people know about it if you can.
