New Community Safety Directory page launched

Read about our new community safety directory packed full of quick links to lots of useful resources, guides and ideas.

There is so much advice on ‘community safety’ available – most of it online – so that sometimes it’s hard to know what to look for.

Residents in the community often hear phrases such as ‘community safety’ but are unsure what this covers.

In reality it covers a lot of things: personal safety when out and about; protecting your house or garage from burglary; safeguarding your possessions; staying safe from scams and fraud; preparing for emergencies; understanding where to turn for information, advice or support – perhaps when you’re a victim; being clear how to report crime or even how to understand larger issues such as exploitation or harassment or ASB (anti-social behaviour).

We (VANEL) have prepared our “Stay Safe” booklets over the years (and you can still pick up copies all over NEL or visit the website).

But we’ve now launched another resource – our Community Safety Directory page on this website.

Visit the webpage here

www.nelwatch.org.uk/communitysafety

The page will evolve over time. Hopefully partners and agencies will provide us with their favourite, recommended websites and resources to add. If links change (as they do, often), then we’ll try to keep it updated. Over time we’ll add more details (so keep visiting it).

Please start looking through the resources available. And share them with your networks.

If we make changes to the page we’ll announce these through our regular weeknotes e-bulletins. (so please subscribe).

Feedback on this new Community Safety resource always welcome.
